Smart padlocks often don’t have the modular capabilities that allow its users to secure their items in the most desirable way.

The Loop was designed to give users the ultimate user experience when it comes to securing belongings with a padlock.
Design a smart padlock that includes all the desired features in one seamless package.

No smart padlock on the market combines these features into a singular package. This is where Loop comes in.

Why: Longer lasting & rechargeable.

Why: Increased customizability to meet all of users’ needs.
Clear Indication
Why: To deter tampering attempts with bold locked icon. Increase perception of security.
USB-C Jumpstart
Why: In case of unexpected dead battery, plug phone in to jumpstart.

Why: Swappable faceplates & shackle lengths to increase variety of addressable markets.

Why: Quality materials to maximize lifespan and security.
Why Schlage?
During my co-op at Allegion. The parent company of Schlage, a staple in the lock industry. I was able to learn about the ins and outs of lock design and assist in the development of their new smart door locks.
Partnering with Schlage for LOOP was a no brainer. Schlage is an industry leader in smart door lock innovation. Their deep knowledge of security and user needs helped refine the concept into a practical, trusted solution—blending innovation with real-world reliability.
Schlage Home App Connectivity
The LOOP is fully compatible with the Schlage Home app, allowing users to lock, unlock, and monitor access remotely. With real-time notifications, custom access codes, and activity logs, the app enhances security and convenience—bringing the trusted Schlage experience to a portable, connected device.

Design Review Insights: LOOP Padlock
During my Co-op at Allegion, I presented my progress on the LOOP padlock to the industrial design team. With their feedback I was able to refine and align it with user needs.
